Could you help put people and community at the heart of Abingdon''s historic Abbey Buildings? The Friends of Abingdon Abbey Buildings Trust is conserving and enhancing these nationally important Grade I listed medieval buildings and, with support from The National Lottery Heritage Fund, delivering an ambitious programme of activities alongside the building project. We want to build meaningful relationships with local people and organisations - not just for the life of the project, but to help establish the Abbey Buildings as a welcoming, accessible and well-used community and heritage space for the future. We''re now looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Community Officer to join our small team and help make that happen. About the role This is a varied, hands-on and outward-facing role. You''ll be working directly with people as well as doing the practical organisation that turns ideas into successful activities. You''ll: help plan, organise and deliver activities and sessions with community groups, schools and other participants; build and maintain relationships with local groups, organisations, schools and networks; help people find opportunities to engage with and use the Abbey Buildings; take responsibility for agreed areas of work, from planning through to delivery and follow-up; support the development and day-to-day coordination of volunteer involvement; contribute to evaluation, communications and social media; and work alongside the Programme Manager, ..... full job details .....
