Role: Occupational Therapist - to start ASAP

Salary: £34.31 per hour umbrella

Location: Kendal, Sedbergh, wider South Lakes area, and occasional support into Penrith if required.

Job Type: Contract - initally 3 months, with likely extention until perm psot is filled

Shifts: Mon - Fri, 37 hours a week. Flexible approach; however, ideally minimum 3 days office/community-based to support team collaboration and service delivery.

Caseload: Varied and dynamic community caseload, some complexity including:

  • Moving and handling assessments
  • Provision of equipment and adaptations
  • Seating assessments
  • Functional assessments within service users'' homes
  • Supporting hospital discharge and prevention of admission

Key responsibilities:

* Functional Assessment: Evaluate patients'' physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.

* Intervention Planning: Design and implement individualised treatment programmes.

* Rehabilitation: Support recovery through therapeutic activities, equipment, and adaptations.

* Education: Provide guidance to patients, families, and carers.

* Community Integration: Assist patients in returning to work, school, or daily life.

* Documentation: Keep accurate records of assessments and interventions.

Details of the work to be carried out:

The successful candidate will:

  • Manage a community-based OT caseload, prioritising risk and need
  • Complete holistic assessments to support independence and wellbeing
  • Undertake moving and handling risk assessments and interventions
  • Recommend and arrange equipment, adaptations, and seating solutions
  • Work closely with health colleagues, social care teams, reablement and partner agencies
  • Maintain accurate and timely case recording and documentation
  • Participate in supervision, and service development activities.

  • Reporting to: OT Team Manager (South Lakes)
  • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Whether the services will need to be provided to any other bodies

The role is primarily focused on delivering services within Westmorland andamp; Furness Council, with no requirement to provide services to external bodies.

About the Role:

As an Occupational Therapist, you will support individuals in regaining independence and improving their ability to carry out everyday activities. You''ll assess functional needs, recommend interventions, and provide rehabilitation to enhance quality of life.


Who we are looking for:

  • Education: Degree in Occupational Therapy
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Proven experience working in a community OT setting
  • Strong commitment to person-centred, strengths-based, and holistic practice
