Description
Role Duties:
- Provide expert advice and make decisions on Adult Social Care Law and Community Care Education Law matters and on the management of risk on complex and contentious legal issues
- Personally manage a caseload and be able to work unsupervised on a caseload consisting of Adult Social Care, Community Care, No recourse to Public Funds, Age Assessment and Immigration cases, including applications for authorisation of Deprivation of Liberty and defending threats of or application for Judicial Review, prioritising work according to risk.
- Provide clear case strategy on cases.
- Negotiating and drafting highly complex and sensitive agreements and documents in the area of Adult Social Care and Community Care Law
- Advocacy in all relevant court and tribunal cases including contested Issues Resolution Hearings and Final Hearings depending upon experience under supervision.
- To undertake the clerking of for at least 1 and up to 3 separate days of school admissions appeals
- Deputise for the Principal Lawyer where requested
- To attend Committee meetings and other meetings where necessary under the supervision of the Principal Solicitor for Children''s Adults and Education and for experience to shadow the Principal Solicitor for Children''s Adults and Education at evening meetings.
- Provide support, guidance, and supervision to less experienced staff
- Provide expertise to Senior Management in legal risk to the Council.
- Preparing update and briefing notes.
- To notify and advise the Principal Lawyer for Children''s Adults and Education of any instructions or events that would result in a breach by the Council or an individual of any legislation, common law, standing order or rule or propriety or would constitute a course of action amounting to maladministration.
Experience:
A minimum of 5 years PQE in the area of Adult Social Care Law / Community Care Law including but not exhaustive to ;
