Community Enforcement Officer
About the Role We are looking for a proactive and community-focused Community Enforcement Officer to join the Public Realm Enforcement Team. This is a varied and rewarding role where you will play a key part in maintaining the safety, cleanliness and quality of public spaces across the city. Working closely with residents, businesses, partner agencies and council departments, you will investigate complaints, enforce legislation, respond to environmental issues and help ensure public spaces remain welcoming and safe for everyone. Key Responsibilities Investigate and enforce environmental offences including littering, fly-tipping, waste management offences, illegal advertising and graffiti. Deal with abandoned, untaxed and nuisance vehicles. Undertake statutory duties relating to stray dogs, dog control and dog fouling enforcement. Enforce Public Spaces Protection Orders (PSPOs), byelaws and other legislation relating to streets and open spaces. Work with partner agencies to support coordinated responses relating to homelessness and unauthorised encampments. Act as a key point of contact between council departments regarding unauthorised encampments, carrying out welfare and needs assessments where required. Conduct patrols, investigations and evidence gathering activities. Prepare case files and support enforcement action in accordance with legislation and council policy.
