Commissioning Engineer

Job Purpose
Deliver commissioning projects in compliance with national legal requirements, client specifications, developed technical standards, and applied regulations. Provide commissionability input throughout concept, detailed design, and construction phases to ensure seamless project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all commissioning activities in accordance with Company, Customer, and project requirements, defining and implementing the Commissioning Strategy for the project.
• Act as the primary point of contact for the Company, Customer, and sub-contractors.
• Plan, assess, and manage activities to identify and control risks and hazards, ensuring compliance with relevant Company and Customer standards, policies, and procedures.
• Set and uphold standards aligned with Company initiatives such as People Who Do The Right Thing and People Who Lead Safely.
• Organise and secure adequate resources to deliver the agreed work scope as outlined in the contract and project documentation.
• Oversee work implementation to guarantee adherence to technical and quality standards, ensuring delivery right first time.
• Ensure preparation of suitable Safe Systems of Work (including Risk Assessments and Method Statements) to enable supervisors and work teams to perform tasks safely, with clear instruction and information.
• Manage and control sub-contractors, where applicable, to maintain performance and compliance.
• Review and verify training and competency records for personnel, including sub-contractors, to confirm suitability for assigned tasks.
• Provide regular reports, updates, and statistics to the Company and/or Customer demonstrating performance against Safety, Quality, Time, and Cost criteria.
• Conduct regular workplace inspections to ensure ongoing compliance with Company and Customer standards, expectations, and procedures.

Academic Requirements

• Vocational Qualification Level 6 / Bachelor''s Degree / SVQ Level 4
• Membership of an appropriate Engineering Institution
• Or
• NVQ Level 4 / HNC-HND / SVQ Level 3 with relevant experience
• Membership of an appropriate Engineering Institution

Specific Requirements

• IOSH Managing Safely certification

Experience

• Proven experience of managing complex commissioning projects within a highly regulated environment, preferably within the nuclear sector.
