A well-established and growing high-voltage engineering firm is looking for an experienced High Voltage Commissioning Engineer to join their UK-based team. With projects spanning power utilities, industrial facilities, and critical infrastructure both domestically and internationally, this is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to work on cutting-edge HV systems from 33kV to 400kV.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Supervise and execute commissioning, upgrades, and maintenance of HV systems (33–400kV)
- Work hands-on with switchgear, transformers, relays, and protection schemes
- Conduct primary/secondary injection testing, IEC 61850 and G99 commissioning
- Carry out planned maintenance (e.g. thermal imaging, PD testing, oil analysis)
- Lead HV panel installations, wiring, retrofits, and transformer works
- Diagnose faults and troubleshoot complex protection systems
- Generate site method statements and risk assessments
- Document test results, complete reports, and liaise with clients and project teams
- Supervise internal teams and subcontractors
- Participate in the 24/7 emergency response rota when required
- Promote services on-site and help identify new business opportunities
Performance Expectations:
- Submit site reports and test results within 2 working days of project completion
- Maintain up-to-date timesheets, H&S documents, and expense claims weekly
- Meet project milestones and quality targets
- Follow internal QA, safety, and compliance standards consistently

Who We’re Looking For
Must-Have:
- Must have TP141 or BP141 Certification
- Solid experience commissioning and maintaining HV equipment (33–400kV)
- Hands-on knowledge of CT/VT injection, relay testing, fault diagnosis
- Experience across UK sites, and ideally offshore or overseas environments
- Strong understanding of electrical safety protocols in HV environments
- Ability to lead or work independently on-site
- UK driving licence and willingness to travel
Desirable:
- Degree, HNC, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
- Authorised Person (AP) or Senior Authorised Person (SAP) status
- Offshore/Nuclear site clearance or security clearance
