The role at a glance

  • Position: Commercial Officer (Officer-level support role, working independently)
  • Contract: 6 months, Inside IR35
  • Rate: Around -400 per day (Umbrella)
  • Working pattern: Primarily remote with occasional travel for ad hoc meetings (Liverpool / London and other UK offices as required)
  • Location: Role can only be worked within the UK
  • Security clearance: BPSS (or willingness to obtain)
  • Interview: Informal, experience-based conversation via MS Teams

Key responsibilities

  • Support the creation and execution of category management strategies to deliver a best-in-class procurement offer to government.
  • Organise and drive market engagement, gaining deep understanding of customer requirements and turning these into viable commercial options.
  • Embed savings methodologies and contribute to delivering savings and value-for-money targets.
  • Advise customers on commercial excellence and contribute to thought leadership within the category.
  • Use digitalised solutions and tailored communications to engage a diverse stakeholder base, including SMEs and wider public sector bodies.
  • Review and monitor customer buying behaviours using management information to drive continuous improvement.
  • Ensure production of collateral and guidance to help customers buy better.
  • Maintain a strong focus on savings, spend under management, customer service and strategic supplier relationship management.
  • Work closely with stakeholders and customers via working groups, meetings, events and seminars to promote new commercial products and procurement initiatives.
  • Liaise with Account Managers and internal colleagues to ensure a consistent, joined-up approach and to support sub-category development.

What our client is looking for (essential)

  • Solid public sector procurement or contract management background.
  • Proven experience with PCR 2015.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of stakeholders at different levels.
  • Supplier management experience and handling complex agreements.
  • Demonstrable public sector experience.

Desirable

  • CIPS or working towards it.
  • Knowledge or understanding of PA 2023.
