An engineering services business in the defence sector require a Commercial Officer. Applicants could be; law graduates, those with placement year experience in commercial contracts, or commercial contracts professionals working in B2B.
The Commercial Officer will join a large and supportive, multi-disciplined commercial team. The Commercial Officer will contribute to the delivery of commercially/contractually sound bids and ensure the compliant day-to-day management of contracts, maximising opportunity and minimising risk.
Specific duties of the Commercial Officer include:
- Support bids an projects team on contractual terms, obligations and best practice
- Monitor contract performance in respect of contractual KPIs
- Serve as point of contact for the customer in regards to any commercial queries
- Day-to-day contract management and change activities; amendments, negotiations, variations etc.
- Support bids and sales colleagues prepare commercial response to new business opportunities
- Collation of contract performance data to drive future commercial decisions
Commercial Officer applicants should meet the following criteria:
- Law graduate, LLB, LLM, GDL or LPC certified OR experience in a commercial contracts role, ideally within the defence sector
- Commercial acumen - the ability to spot opportunities and support bids and new business work
- Commercial Contract Management experience, ability to negotiate, administer contract change etc.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship skills
- Seeking a progressive career in commercial contract management, ideally in the aerospace, defence, security or engineering services field
