Commercial Manager

Job purpose:

Our client are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to drive commercial excellence, contract governance and profitability across the business. This is a key leadership role focused on bid management, customer contract negotiation, commercial risk management and margin improvement.

Main Duties

• Lead commercial management of customer contracts throughout their lifecycle.
• Manage commercial input into bids, tenders and customer proposals.
• Review, negotiate and manage customer legal contracts and commercial terms.
• Drive margin improvement and profitability initiatives across the business.
• Identify and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
• Support operational teams with pricing, change management and contract performance.
• Develop commercial reporting and KPI dashboards.
• Build strong customer and stakeholder relationships.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Annual margin improvement and profitability growth.
• Bid win rate performance.
• 100% governance and review of customer contracts.
• Reduction in commercial risk exposure.
• Delivery of cost-saving and value improvement initiatives.
• Accurate commercial reporting and forecasting.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Professional Qualities

• Proven experience of minimum 5 years as a Commercial Manager, Senior Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Lead.
• Strong bid management and tendering experience.
• Experience negotiating customer legal contracts.
• Track record of delivering margin growth and commercial improvements.
• Background within construction, environmental services, utilities, infrastructure or related customer-facing sectors.
• Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
