Commercial Manager

Are you a commercial manager with experience of working client side on infrastructure projects?

Locations: London & Birmingham
Day Rates: £300-£500 per day (Inside IR35)
Opportunities: Commercial Audit / Cost Variation Assessment (CVA) & Commercial Management

We are recruiting experienced Commercial Management professionals for a range of opportunities across London and Birmingham.
We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates from infrastructure, construction and major project environments, with experience in either Commercial Audit / Cost Variation Assessment (CVA) or hands-on Commercial Management delivery.

These are two distinct types of roles, requiring different experience and skill sets.
1. Cost Variation Assessment (CVA) / Commercial Audit Roles
We are looking for commercially experienced professionals who can combine strong contract and commercial management knowledge with auditing, commercial assurance, analytical review and report-writing skills.
These positions are suited to individuals who have experience reviewing commercial processes, assessing costs, identifying discrepancies and providing clear, evidence-based findings and recommendations.

Experience we''re looking for:
·Strong background in commercial management, ideally within major infrastructure or construction projects.
·Previous commercial, financial or controls audit experience, whether internally focused or client-facing.
·Experience undertaking commercial reviews, cost assessments, contract compliance checks or Cost Variation Assessments (CVA).
·Ability to analyse commercial information, identify risks, challenge costs and assess contractual entitlement.
·Strong report-writing skills, including presenting findings and recommendations to senior management or clients.
·Knowledge of NEC contracts and their commercial application.
·Experience working directly with clients, managing stakeholder expectations and delivering to strict deadlines.
Previous CVA experience is particularly desirable. However, candidates with strong commercial management backgrounds combined with demonstrable auditing skills are also encouraged to apply.

2. Commercial Management Augmentation Roles
We are also recruiting Commercial Management professionals to support existing project and commercial teams with day-to-day commercial delivery and contract management.
Unlike the CVA / Audit positions, these roles are primarily focused on operational commercial management rather than independent audit, assurance or assessment activities.

Experience we''re looking for:
·Hands-on commercial management experience within construction, infrastructure or major projects.
·Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts, including contract administration and commercial processes.
·Experience managing contracts, variations, compensation events and commercial risks.
·Preparation and assessment of applications for payment, valuations, cost recovery and commercial reporting.
·Experience working on the client, main contractor or subcontractor side.
·Ability to manage commercial responsibilities, coordinate with project teams and meet demanding deadlines.
·Experience across project controls, finance, cost management or project management would be advantageous.
·Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.

For these positions, we are particularly interested in candidates with proven operational commercial delivery experience and the ability to integrate effectively into established project teams.

Levels & Day Rates
We are considering candidates at the following levels for both types of opportunities:

All rates are Inside IR35.

·Evidence of successfully delivering work to strict deadlines.

Operational Commercial Experience
·Years of NEC contract experience and the contract values/levels managed.
·Experience working for clients, contractors or subcontractors.
·Involvement in preparing applications for payment, valuations or cost recovery submissions.
·Additional experience in finance, project controls, cost management or project management.
