Commercial Lines Department Manager (Hybrid)

OverviewPosition Overview: The Commercial Lines Department Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Commercial Lines team, ensuring outstanding client service, workflow efficiency, staff development, and adherence to industry best practices. This is a strategic leadership role for someone passionate about team building, operational excellence, and client satisfaction.
Work ArrangementThis is a full-time hybrid position that reports to our office in Enfield, CT or Kingston, NY. Travel to other nearby offices may also be required.
Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and support the Commercial Lines Account Managers
Handling and managing a small book of Commercial Lines Insurance
Oversee daily operations, ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and policy accuracy
Develop and implement department goals, procedures, and performance metrics
Conduct regular audits of accounts for quality control and compliance
Serve as an escalation point for complex client issues or carrier negotiations
Stay current on industry trends, carrier appetites, products, and regulations
Foster a positive, collaborative team environment and manage performance evaluations
Collaborate with leadership on growth strategies, staffing, and technology improvements
Assist in onboarding and training new team members
Qualifications and Requirements
10+ years of experience working in Commercial Lines insurance including experience in New York and Connecticut
Bachelor''s degree in Business, Insurance, or related field
Active Property and Casualty License
Strong knowledge of commercial insurance products, markets, and carriers
Insurance designations such as CIC, CPCU, ARM, or CRM, preferred
Proven leadership, organizational, and communication skills
Experience with agency management system, Applied Epic preferred
Experience managing remote or hybrid teams
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Analytical mindset and attention to detail
