A Commercial Gas Engineer is required to join an established facilities management business, covering commercial sites across Birmingham, Telford, Shrewsbury, Stafford, Leominster and the surrounding areas.
This is a mobile role working across a long-term retail contract, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance on commercial gas, heating, HVAC and mechanical building services equipment.
The basic salary is -46,121.73, with a -2,535 annual standby payment taking the package to -48,656.73 before overtime. There is also a -2,000 joining bonus, subject to terms and conditions, with overtime, standby and call-out opportunities providing realistic earnings of -60,000+.
The Role
As a Commercial Gas Engineer, you''ll be responsible for maintaining a range of commercial heating and HVAC equipment across multiple retail sites.
The role will include PPM, reactive maintenance, fault finding and repairs, with a good mix of commercial gas and wider mechanical plant.
You''ll manage your own workload across the allocated area, dealing directly with site teams and customers while ensuring maintenance is completed safely, efficiently and to the required standard.
Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance and reactive repairs across commercial retail sites
• Service, maintain and fault find on commercial gas systems
• Service and repair commercial boilers and associated heating equipment
• Diagnose faults across HVAC and mechanical building services equipment
• Maintain pumps, fans, Air Handling Units and Fan Coil Units
• Complete routine servicing, inspections and statutory maintenance
• Carry out minor alterations and installations within your technical competence
• Identify faults that cannot be repaired and provide recommendations for replacement or further works
• Complete maintenance reports and compliance documentation using a PDA system
• Order replacement parts and spares in line with company procedures
• Carry out plant inspections and identify additional maintenance requirements
• Work safely in accordance with current health and safety legislation
• Maintain professional relationships with customers and site teams
• Participate in the standby rota and attend emergency call-outs when required

What You''ll Need

• Previous experience as a Commercial Gas Engineer, Commercial Heating Engineer, HVAC Engineer or Building Services Engineer
• NVQ/SVQ Level 3 in Heating, Ventilation, Mechanical Engineering, HVAC or an equivalent qualification
• Current ACS Commercial Gas qualifications, including relevant categories such as:
  • COCN
  • CIGA
  • CORT
  • ICPN
  • CDGA
  • TPCP1 / TPCP1A
• Strong commercial gas servicing, fault finding and diagnostic experience
• Experience maintaining commercial boilers and heating systems
• Experience working on associated HVAC and mechanical equipment
• Previous PPM and reactive maintenance experience
• Full UK driving licence
• Comfortable working at height and in confined spaces
• Able to work independently across a mobile patch
• Good customer-facing and communication skills
• Comfortable using PDA/mobile maintenance systems

Desirable Qualifications

• ACS Domestic Gas qualifications including CCN, CENWAT and CPA
• City & Guilds 2079-1 F-Gas Category 1
• City & Guilds 18th Edition
