Commercial Finance Analyst

Axon Moore are exclusively partnering with a well-established and highly regarded organisation in Preston to recruit a Commercial Finance Analyst.

This is an excellent opportunity for a newly qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA professional to join a commercially focused finance team and play a key role in supporting business performance and decision-making.

Working closely with the Commercial Finance Manager and wider leadership team, you will provide timely and insightful financial analysis, challenge performance and support key commercial decisions. Your work will help maximise sales, profitability and return on investment, while ensuring costs are effectively managed and controlled.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with the Commercial Finance Manager and wider business to support commercial planning, performance analysis and financial decision-making.
• Provide insightful and timely financial analysis, reporting and challenge to support the achievement of business and financial targets.
• Review weekly performance across stores and categories, identifying key trends, opportunities and risks, and summarising findings for presentation to the Senior Leadership Team.
• Prepare robust financial appraisals and business cases, supporting projects and value-added initiatives designed to improve commercial performance.
• Review and validate commercial financial data, ensuring its accuracy and integrity and identifying and resolving any issues that could impact decision-making.
• Act as a key Finance Business Partner to stakeholders, providing advice and insight on financial performance and supporting the delivery of strategic objectives.
• Support the budgeting and forecasting process for your area, helping stakeholders understand financial performance and improve commercial awareness.
• Provide financial insight into projects, communicating progress, financial benefits and outcomes to relevant stakeholders.
• Maintain a strong financial control environment, ensuring relevant financial standards and processes are followed across the business.
• Work collaboratively with non-finance teams, providing appropriate challenge and guidance to ensure robust financial reporting and decision-making.
• Analyse large and complex data sets to identify trends, opportunities and insights that can influence business performance.
• Contribute to a positive, collaborative and customer-focused culture, supporting continuous improvement across the business.

Candidates should have strong Excel skills, be confident communicators, and feel comfortable presenting to stakeholders. Knowledge or experience with Power BI would also be beneficial.
