Co-opted Lay Member, Audit and Risk Committee

As part of its ambitious strategy From Manchester for the world, the University is seeking to appoint a Co-opted Lay Member of its Audit and Risk Committee. The Audit and Risk Committee plays a critical role in supporting the University''s Board of Governors by providing assurance on the effectiveness of governance, risk management, internal control and financial reporting arrangements. As a co-opted member, you will bring independent judgement, professional insight and constructive challenge to help safeguard the University''s integrity, resilience and long-term success. The successful candidate will have significant experience in audit, finance and/or risk management, supported by a relevant accounting or auditing qualification. You will be able to analyse and interrogate complex information, exercise sound judgement, and contribute confidently within a committee setting, including challenging senior executives and external auditors where appropriate. An interest in the higher education sector and a strong commitment to public service are essential. This is a non-executive, unremunerated role, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.
