CNC Turner - Programmer, Setter, Operator
We''re looking for an experienced CNC Turner to join a specialist precision engineering business. Our client is a growing engineering manufacturer producing high-quality, precision components for a range of demanding applications.
The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC turning machinery, working to tight tolerances and ensuring components are manufactured to the required standards.

- Salary: -36,000 - -43,000 DOE
- Hours: Monday to Thursday, 6:30 - 17:00
- Working week: 40 hours - 4-day working week
- Overtime and bonus opportunities
- 32 days annual leave including bank holidays

Key responsibilities
- Program, set and operate CNC multi-axis turning machinery to manufacture precision components.
- Work with Fanuc controls and Manual Guide.
- Produce components ranging from prototypes and one-offs through to medium batch runs.
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Select appropriate tooling, inserts and machining parameters.
- Set and change machines independently throughout the working day.
- Operate CNC lathes equipped with bar feed systems.
- Carry out first-off inspections and inspect your own work throughout production.
- Use measuring equipment including verniers, micrometres and thread gauges.
- Make adjustments to tooling and machining parameters where required.
- Work with a range of materials including mild steel, stainless steel, super duplex, brass, aluminium and plastics.
- Maintain required production, quality and efficiency standards.
- Manage multiple machines and prioritise workload effectively.
- Carry out detailed deburring and finishing of components.
- Maintain a clean, tidy and safe working environment.
About you
- Strong experience programming, setting and operating CNC turning machinery.
- Ideally 5+ years experience within a subcontract precision engineering environment.
- Good knowledge of Fanuc and Manual Guide controls.
- Experience working with CNC multi-axis turning machinery.
- Experience with bar-fed CNC lathes.
- Confident independently setting and resetting machines multiple times per day.
- Experience working from detailed engineering drawings and manufacturing specifications.
- Good understanding of turning processes, tooling and machining conditions.
- Experience inspecting your own work using verniers, micrometres and thread gauges.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality components.
- Able to manage multiple machines and changing production requirements.
- Reliable, proactive and organised with a strong work ethic.
- A positive, hands-on ''can do, will do'' attitude.
