CNC Turner / Programmer – Day shift

A well-established precision engineering company where more than 50% of the team have been with them for over 10 years'' are seeking a CNC Turner / Programmer to join their team. The company manufacture low-volume, high-quality tubular and threaded components for sectors including aerospace, oil and gas, and defence. The established day shift runs Monday to Friday, with a 2.30 pm finish every Friday, giving you an earlier start to the weekend. Salary is £37,000-£43,000 per annum, depending on experience.
Please note:  This is a CNC programming role - not a setter / operator-only position. You must be confident writing new CNC turning programs from scratch at the machine, as well as setting and operating, with minimal supervision
We are looking for a CNC Turner / Programmer with:
- Proven experience programming, setting and operating 2-axis CNC turning machines.
- Able to write new CNC programs from scratch/long-hand at the machine, with little or no supervision.
- Strong working knowledge of G-code programming.
- Confident completing the full machine set-up from engineering drawing to finished component, including material, tooling, speeds, feeds and cutting conditions.
- Able to edit and optimise existing programs where required.
- Strong understanding of engineering drawings, geometric tolerances, surface finishes and in-process inspection.
- Experience producing one-off and low-to-medium-volume precision components in a range of hard and soft metals.
- Confident working on parts from approximately Ø25 mm x 100 mm up to Ø300 mm x 3 m. Hoist training is provided.
- Quality-driven, self-motivated and able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
