The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC lathes and milling machines to manufacture precision components in line with engineering drawings and quality standards.
The company operates both CNC lathes and CNC milling machines, including fourth-axis machinery. Experience using Fanuc controls is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, edit and optimise CNC programmes.
- Programme, set and operate CNC lathes and milling machines.
- Operate fourth-axis CNC machinery where required.
- Programme machinery using Fanuc controls.
- Read and interpret detailed engineering drawings and 2D CAD drawings.
- Select suitable tooling, speeds and feeds.
- Manufacture high- and low-value metal and plastic components.
- Produce components to tight tolerances, potentially up to -0.005 mm.
- Carry out first-off inspections and in-process quality checks.
- Use precision measuring equipment, including micrometres, verniers and gauges.
- Identify and resolve machining, tooling and programming issues.
- Ensure all components meet the required dimensional and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
- Work closely with engineering, production and quality teams.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
Skills and Experience
- Previous experience working as a CNC Programmer.
- Strong CNC programming, setting and operating experience.
- Experience with CNC milling and turning machinery.
- Experience using Fanuc controls is highly desirable.
- Experience operating fourth-axis machinery would be advantageous.
- Ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings.
- Good understanding of machining processes, tooling, speeds and feeds.
- Experience machining components to tight tolerances.
- Confident using precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a production team.
- Enthusiastic, practical and forward-thinking approach.
Materials
You will be programming and machining a range of metals and engineering plastics, including:
- Stainless steel.
- Aluminium.
- Brass.
- Bronze.
- Igus materials.
- Engineering plastics.
Working Hours
- Monday to Thursday: 08:00-16:30.
- Friday: 08:00-15:45.
- One hour for lunch.
- A 10-minute morning coffee break and an afternoon break.
