CNC Programmer / Setter

The Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for programming, setting and preparing CNC milling jobs, ensuring components are manufactured accurately and efficiently to drawing specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Programme and set CNC milling machines using Siemens ShopMill.
• Write CNC programmes from scratch, working from engineering drawings with minimal supervision.
• Accurately interpret technical drawings, tolerances and specifications.
• Set up and prove out jobs, ensuring tooling, programmes and cutting conditions are suitable.
• Prepare jobs for machine operators to run independently.
• Check and inspect your own work to ensure components meet drawing requirements.
• Select appropriate tooling and machining strategies.
• Apply a strong understanding of machining processes, feeds, speeds and cutting conditions.
• Manage your own workload and priorities while maintaining high standards of quality.

Essential Requirements

• Minimum 3 years'' experience in CNC programming and setting.
• Strong experience with Siemens ShopMill.
• Proven ability to write CNC programmes from scratch.
• Confident working independently from engineering drawings.
• Strong understanding of technical drawings, tolerances and inspection requirements.
• Experience setting up jobs for machine operators to run independently.
• Good knowledge of machining processes, tooling and cutting conditions.
• Ability to work independently and maintain a high standard of quality and accuracy.
