Salary: -27,000 - 32,000 + Overtime

CNC Machinist Overview


An opportunity has opened up in the Portsmouth area to join a well-established precision engineering company who have been operating for over 40 years and manufactures a world leading product synonymous with precision.


Operating

• To operate and run CNC milling machines (Fanuc/control)
• Be able to read geometric drawings
• Have good communication skills.
• Be able to read and use measuring instruments.
• Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations
• Documents actions by completing production and quality logs
• Control tolerances given on drawings
• Be able to operate other machine shop equipment performing simple tasks i.e.. Pillar drills, manual lathes

Setting

• Be able to set CNC lathes to perform various tasks and operations (Fanuc/control)
• Setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, including basic math
• Produce first off components at the beginning of production runs

Programming

• Be able to program CNC lathe machines (Fanuc/control) at the machine
• Be able to read and adjust existing programs
• Once instructed in the procedure, upload or download programs from a central computer.

-CNC Machinist Responsibilities and Essentials

• Must have right to live and work in the UK-
• Must have a clean criminal record-(Essential due to nature of product)
• Must be able to set and operate CNC-Mills on exp with Fanuc/Bridgeport/Heidenhain ideally
• Must understand how to offset and tool change efficiently
• Solid understanding of GD&T

Additional information for CNC-Machinist

• Monday to Thursday (Days) 7am - 4.30pm
• Overtime available at x 1.5
• Due to the nature of the work a full police check will be conducted if successful and can take up to 6 weeks*
