CNC Machinist / CNC Operator (1 Week Early/1 Week Late)

First Achieve Engineering are currently recruiting for an experienced CNC Machinist / Operator to join a well-established engineering business specialising in high-quality, low-volume manufacturing.

The Role

You will be responsible for manufacturing precision components and sub-assemblies using a range of CNC and manual machine tools, working from detailed engineering drawings and specifications.

Key Responsibilities

• Set, program, and operate CNC milling or turning machines
• Manufacture components in a low-volume, high-quality production environment
• Work to engineering drawings and tight tolerances
• Modify or manufacture tooling including jigs, fixtures, and moulds
• Inspect and verify dimensions using precision measuring equipment
• Achieve production targets in line with job requirements
• Accurately log work times using ERP systems
• Contribute to continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives
• Maintain high standards of health & safety at all times
• Identify hazards and promote safe working practices within the workshop

Requirements

Essential:

• Minimum 5 years'' experience in a CNC machining environment
• Proven experience operating CNC milling and/or turning machines
• Ability to read and interpret ISO engineering drawings
• Experience working to tight tolerances
• Competent using measuring equipment (micrometres, Vernier callipers, etc.)
• Basic IT skills
• Understanding of 5S principles

Desirable:

• Time-served apprenticeship
• Experience with CNC programming, setting, and operating
• Familiarity with controls such as:
  • Hurco (Winmax)
  • Fanuc
  • Mazatrol (Mazak)
  • Siemens
