Initially on a 12 weeks temporary to permanent contract, this position will become permanent after a 3 months probationary period. Overall Purpose of the Job: The technician will be required to produce a wide range of precision components and assemblies, using an extensive range of machine tools and equipment, including both conventional and CNC machines, within one of the university’s mechanical workshops. This role is to support teaching and research activities in the Faculty of Science and Engineering by manufacturing components, from engineering drawings, and by using CAM software generated from SolidWorks 3D models. The work is interesting and varied with generally one-off components or small batches.
