We have an exciting opportunity for a Mental Health Band 4 Clinical Support Assistant to join the Community Mental Health Team, in South Warwickshire, working with a mixture of patients with psychotic and non-psychotic presentations. We are one team that has two bases in South Warwickshire, one in Leamington and one in Stratford. All clinical work is carried out in both bases and in patient’s own homes.

This role is varied and will incorporate the triage of patients accessing secondary care mental health services, delivery of Mental Health psycho-education. Additional to the triage role where the post holder will have support and supervision from senior clinical colleagues, the post holder will have responsibility for a defined caseload of clients under indirect supervision. They will provide treatment to service users using a range of evidence-based interventions. Our teams place a huge emphasis on training and ongoing supervision both in a group setting and individual basis.

Responsibilities• Triage patients accessing secondary care mental health services

• Deliver Mental Health psycho-education

• Manage a defined caseload under indirect supervision and provide treatment using evidence-based interventions

• Work within a multi-disciplinary team and support the qualified staff with assessments and reviews, completing paperwork with guidance and supervision

• Participate in delivering psychological interventions (including anxiety management and emotional regulation skills) and run groups where appropriate after training

• Communicate with a wide variety of patients, professionals, partners and agencies

• Travel to appointments in the community; access to a vehicle is essential

• Contribute to service development and training within the team

• Assist with triage and group/one-to-one interventions in line with service boundaries

Qualifications and requirementsApplicants should be thorough, boundaried and confident practitioners with a good understanding of Mental Health presentations. Essential qualities are warmth, compassion, empathy and the ability to be relatable. Having access to and the use of a vehicle for attending appointments in the community is essential.

We are looking for staff with a passion for working with people with complex and significant mental health problems. It is important you have good communication skills and can work on your own initiative as well as collaboratively with colleagues. A willingness and enthusiasm to learn new skills and develop your practice is vital.

This team provides interventions on a one to one basis and in group formats. You will have the opportunity to participate and run groups and you will be given training within the team for this. You will be working as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using evidence-based approaches and time-limited interventions.
