Clinical Lead Physiotherapist Mental Health Team

OverviewAn exciting and rare opportunity has arisen for a Band 8a Clinical Lead Physiotherapist post in the Mental Health Team, Swansea Bay University Health Board (SBUHB). The team covers Mental Health inpatient areas across two main sites together with several community teams. The post holder will provide leadership, support, supervision and mentorship to staff, and will liaise with Heads of Service from both Therapies and Mental Health Directorates. The post includes a significant clinical component, including advice on the management of highly complex patients. Part-time hours may be considered. Enquiries welcome. Responsibilities
Responsible for planning, delivering, managing and evaluating the physiotherapy services across the whole patient pathway including the acute setting through rehabilitation and out-patient/outreach follow up, and community-based therapy where applicable.
Ensure that physiotherapy provision is evidence-based and aligned with recognised best practice.
Ensure the physiotherapy teams adhere to the Health Board and Departmental Clinical Governance agenda.
Ensure the service is compliant with relevant key performance indicators and datasets.
Lead contribution to and delivery of any planned or future service redesign across SBUHB.
Contribute specific clinical physiotherapy expertise.
Represent the Physiotherapy Service at SBUHB meetings.
Participate in National and International forums as a highly specialist resource for other therapy, nursing and medical professionals.
Develop and implement applicable strategies locally and nationally, ensuring National and local priorities are met and delivering quality of care across the patient pathway. Delivers specialist training and provides development programs relevant to clinical experience/expertise.
QualificationsEssential
Physiotherapy Degree/Diploma and HPC registration.
Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and relevant postgraduate training in area of clinical expertise (equivalent to masters level).
Accredited Fieldwork Educator or equivalent training qualification (e.g., Assessor / trainer the trainer / PGCE).
Advanced knowledge of working as a Physiotherapist in the NHS across the patient pathway with supervision of staff and students.
Active involvement in specialist interest groups; leading projects, developing a new service or practice innovation; experience of leading an audit and research project.
Knowledge of interdisciplinary and partnership working; ability to build and sustain relationships with AHPs from different disciplines; experience of leading multidisciplinary team meetings.
Desirable
Accredited Clinical Educator; Welsh language skills are desirable.
Knowledge and ExperienceEssential
Advanced experience as a Physiotherapist with service delivery across the patient pathway in various clinical settings.
Experience supervising physiotherapy staff and students; leading projects and service development.
Experience in leading audits and research projects; interdisciplinary and partnership working; leading multidisciplinary team meetings.
Postgraduate experience relevant to the clinical area; active involvement in national specialist interest groups; computer literacy.
Desirable
Welsh language skills at levels 1-5 (understanding, speaking, reading, writing).
