Clerk (Democratic Services)Location: BoltonJob Type: Full-timeHourly rate: £16.43 per hourLength of role: Initial 4 monthsWe are seeking a dedicated Clerk for our Democratic Services to provide independent advice to Appeals Panels and ensure the integrity and transparency of the appeals process. This role is crucial in maintaining the standards and procedures of our panels, ensuring that all appeals are conducted fairly and in accordance with the law.Day-to-Day of the Role:Provide independent advice on procedure and law to Appeals Panels.Ensure that panels comply with their statutory duties and adhere to relevant laws, statutes, and Codes of Practice.Maintain the independence of appeal panels and ensure transparency and fairness in all proceedings.Coordinate necessary training for panel members to fulfill their roles effectively.Manage administrative arrangements for hearings, including notifying parties of proceedings and responding to pre-hearing queries.Review documentation related to individual appeals to ensure relevance and applicability.Record detailed minutes during hearings, including attendance, voting, and decision rationales.Communicate effectively with panel members, service users, and partner organisations.Prepare decision letters and documentation for the Local Government Ombudsman when required.Required Skills and Qualifications:Ability to interpret legislation and statutory guidance related to Appeal Hearings.Demonstrated ability to provide independent, ..... full job details .....
