About the Role

Based at a Cheltenham academy, this Cleaning Assistant and Key Holder role involves maintaining high standards across school premises. Working up to 27.5 hours weekly, on a permanent contract paying £13.53 hourly, duties include general cleaning plus preparing the sports centre for lettings and events. The successful applicant will handle opening or locking up as required, so reliability and a responsible approach matter greatly. Practical skills such as time management, attention to detail and the ability to work unsupervised are essential. Prior cleaning experience within a school or similar setting would prove advantageous. The trust serves over 1,800 students and 200 staff, offering extensive facilities.

An established single academy trust with a PAN of 300 is seeking a Cleaning Assistant and Key Holder to provide an efficient and timely cleaning service across the school. You will support the Sports Centre with lettings/activity set ups and internal and external events set ups within the school.  They have a wide catchment, over 200 staff and over 1,800 students. That means they have the resources to provide a wealth of opportunities: a sports centre and 3G sports pitches; a fully equipped drama studio, a dance studio, a large library, modern spacious English and Maths blocks, 12 science labs and specialist design, technology, computing and media rooms. The highly successful sixth formers have their own large base within the school too.
You will be working Up to 27.5hrs per week, 52 weeks per year. 
All shifts or combinations of shifts available (please state in your application):
Monday 4:30pm - 10:30pm (30 minutes unpaid break)
Tuesday 4:30pm - 10:30pm (30 minutes unpaid break)
Wednesday 4:30pm - 10:30pm (30 minutes unpaid break)
Thursday 4:30pm - 10:30pm (30 minutes unpaid break)
Friday 4:00pm - 10:00pm (30 minutes unpaid break)
As the Cleaning Assistant and Key Holder you will:
- Have key holder position responsibilities, in the absence of the Sports Centre Duty Manager you will be required to open and closing of the facilities, ensuring security by activation of the intruder alarm.
- Oversee the running of let facilities (in the absence of Sports Centre Duty Manager), with responsibility for the lettings / activity set ups during out of school hours, plus set up for internal and external events within school buildings.
- Act as a point of contact for all stakeholders including facility users and outside contractors when necessary and to liaise with contractors on site when needed.
- Maintain cleanliness of the site and fitness suite, including litter picking and emptying of bins.
- Carry out cleaning duties in any area allocated by the Cleaning Supervisor to the required standard and within the allocated time (allocated areas are subject to change as required).
- Clean all surfaces, fixtures and fittings, by appropriate method, within the designated area of work (apart from any technical equipment cleaned by other departments). 
- Clean all hard and soft floor surfaces within the designated area by the appropriate method and using machinery where necessary

- Willing to undertake trainings courses that are relevant to the post and that are required for health and safety purposes.
- Computer literate and comfortable using Microsoft Office365 applications
