Classroom Assistant

We''re looking for a dedicated and compassionate Classroom Assistant to join a caring and supportive SEND school in Walsall. This long-term role is ideal for someone eager to make a real difference in the classroom every day.
About the Role:
As a Classroom Assistant, you''ll work closely with pupils aged 5-16 with a range of additional needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs), and MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties). Whether you''re supporting 1:1 or within small groups, your role will be key in helping students access learning, manage emotions, and build confidence.
You''ll be part of a collaborative and experienced team of teachers, therapists, and support staff who work together to create an inclusive, safe, and engaging learning environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils in the classroom with tailored learning activities and resources
- Assisting in the delivery of individual Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) targets
- Helping maintain a calm, nurturing, and structured classroom environment
- Using positive behaviour support strategies to help with emotional regulation
- Encouraging student independence, resilience, and self-esteem
- Building strong, trusting relationships with both pupils and staff
About You:
- Patient, empathetic, and calm under pressure
- Passionate about inclusive education and supporting SEND learners
- Confident in working with children who may present communication or behavioural challenges
- Able to take initiative, follow guidance, and contribute to a team-focused approach
- Ideally experienced in a special school or similar SEN/SEMH support role (though not essential)
