Class 3 Building Inspector

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Class 3 Building Inspector to join our Building Control team. The role involves inspecting new and existing structures to ensure compliance with building regulations, health and safety standards, and planning permissions. The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to communicate effectively with contractors, architects, and members of the public.
Key Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections of residential, commercial, and public buildings to ensure compliance with building regulations and planning approvals
• Assess building plans, specifications, and technical drawings
• Advise builders, contractors, and property owners on compliance issues and recommended improvements
• Identify defects, hazards, or non-compliance and prepare clear reports
• Liaise with internal teams, external agencies, and clients regarding building standards
• Maintain accurate inspection records and documentation
• Support enforcement action when required
• Stay up to date with changes in building regulations, legislation, and industry best practice

Requirements

• Class 3 Building Inspector qualification (or equivalent)
• Experience inspecting residential and commercial buildings
• Strong knowledge of building regulations, health and safety, and planning requirements
• Excellent report writing, communication, and negotiation skills
• Ability to manage a caseload and prioritise inspections effectively
