The Role & About the Client
ITS Construction Recruitment are currently recruiting for an experienced LGV Class 1 Driver to join a well-established and growing plant hire business, supporting the safe and efficient transportation of equipment to construction sites.
This is an excellent opportunity for a professional and reliable driver to join a growing operation, transporting plant and equipment while maintaining high standards of safety, vehicle care and customer service.
The successful candidate will be responsible for operating heavy goods vehicles safely, delivering and collecting equipment from designated locations, and ensuring all transport activities comply with relevant legislation and site requirements.
Previous experience within the plant hire, construction or logistics industry would be advantageous, particularly for candidates familiar with transporting plant machinery and working on construction sites.
Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

• Safely operate LGVs and transport equipment to and from designated sites.
• Carry out daily vehicle checks and report any defects or maintenance issues promptly.
• Ensure vehicles remain clean, well-maintained and safe for operation.
• Comply with all relevant transport legislation, including tachograph regulations and the Working Time Directive.
• Maintain accurate driving records, tachograph data and vehicle inspection documentation.
• Communicate effectively with customers, site personnel, colleagues and depot staff regarding deliveries, collections and potential delays.
• Ensure deliveries and collections are completed safely, efficiently and with minimal disruption to site operations.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and use the appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Report accidents, incidents, near misses and unsafe working conditions in line with company procedures.
• Attend required training sessions and safety briefings.
• Maintain a professional approach and deliver a high standard of customer service.

Requirements

• Valid Category C+E driving licence.
• Valid Driver CPC qualification.
• Valid Digital Tachograph Card.
• CSCS Health and Safety Site Visitor Card.
• Good understanding of vehicle safety, maintenance and inspection procedures.
• Knowledge of transport legislation and tachograph regulations.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Reliable, adaptable and safety-conscious approach to work.
• Previous experience in LGV driving, plant hire, construction or logistics is desirable.
• Experience transporting plant machinery or working with construction equipment would be advantageous.

Salary, Hours & Benefits

• £44,000 per annum.
• 50 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
