Salary and Package

£60,000 per annum, with an OTE of up to £80,000 including overtime. The package includes a company vehicle, fuel card, pension, holiday allowance and associated benefits.

Location

Based from the company’s office in Middlesex, with sites across Surrey, Hillingdon and the London Boroughs.

Full-time, Permanent Position

This is a full-time, permanent position working six days per week, with Saturday normally being a half day.

The business is a family-run principal contractor operating across highways, streetworks and civil engineering. Its work includes footway construction and reconstruction, paving, highways maintenance, surfacing and associated civil engineering works for local authorities, contractors and developers across London and the South East. The company has an established workforce, significant in-house plant and a turnover of approximately £45 million.

About the Role

The Civils Supervisor will oversee multiple civils gangs delivering footpath and associated civil engineering works across Surrey, Hillingdon and the London Boroughs.

The Civils Supervisor will be responsible for keeping works progressing safely, efficiently and to programme, while maintaining a clear view of site progress and commercial performance.

The Civils Supervisor will typically oversee between two and four gangs and will spend time both on site and in the office, coordinating resources and ensuring works are properly managed.

Key responsibilities include:

• Supervising and coordinating 2–4 civils gangs across multiple sites.
• Managing footpath, footway and associated civil engineering works.
• Walking sites regularly to check progress, standards and site conditions.
• Managing gangs and allocating labour and resources effectively.
• Monitoring programmes and ensuring works remain on schedule.
• Identifying issues early and taking practical action to keep projects moving.
• Capturing completed works and ensuring commercial information is accurately recorded.
• Working closely with the wider management team on programme and delivery.
• Maintaining high standards of health and safety across all sites.
• Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with relevant streetworks requirements.
• Supporting the efficient use of labour, plant and materials.
• Maintaining clear communication with site teams and management.
• Working across Surrey, Hillingdon and the London Boroughs as required.

The role would suit an experienced civils or highways professional who is comfortable managing several gangs, understands footway and streetworks activities and can balance site supervision with programme and commercial responsibilities.

Relevant qualifications are expected to include CSCS, SSSTS or SMSTS and Street Works/NRSWA qualifications. A strong understanding of site safety is essential, as safety is treated as a priority across the business.
