Are you an experienced Senior Estimator with a background in concrete repairs, structural refurbishment or specialist civil engineering? This is an opportunity to take ownership of estimating and tendering for a growing contractor delivering technically challenging repair and refurbishment schemes.
You will join my client on a permanent basis in Mitcham, working closely with the commercial and operational teams to identify opportunities, prepare competitive tenders and help secure profitable projects.
The business
My client is a specialist contractor delivering concrete repair, structural refurbishment and associated civil engineering works. With a strong pipeline of projects and continued growth planned, they are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator who can bring strong commercial awareness and technical understanding to the pre-construction team.
You will play an important role in assessing new opportunities and ensuring tenders are accurate, commercially viable and aligned with project requirements.
What you will be doing
As the Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for managing the estimating process from initial enquiry through to tender submission.
You will be doing the following:
·Reviewing tender documentation, drawings, specifications and client requirements.
·Preparing detailed and accurate cost estimates for concrete repair and refurbishment projects.
·Producing competitive tender submissions and supporting commercial proposals.
·Obtaining and evaluating quotations from subcontractors and suppliers.
·Completing take-offs and assessing labour, plant, material and subcontract costs.
·Identifying commercial risks, opportunities and potential value-engineering solutions.
·Attending site visits and tender meetings where required.
·Working closely with commercial, operational and project teams during the tender process.
·Supporting tender handovers following successful project awards.
·Maintaining accurate estimating records and contributing to improvements in estimating processes.
What you will need
To be considered for this Senior Estimator position, you will ideally have:
·Previous estimating experience within concrete repairs, structural refurbishment, civil engineering or a closely related sector.
·A strong understanding of construction methods, materials and pricing.
·Experience preparing tenders and detailed cost estimates.
·Good commercial awareness and the ability to identify project risks.
·The ability to interpret drawings, specifications and tender documentation.
·Strong communication and negotiation skills.
·Good organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines.
·Confidence working independently while collaborating with wider commercial and operational teams.
Experience within specialist concrete repairs would be particularly beneficial.
Package and working arrangements
This is a permanent position based in Mitcham, South London.
The salary is up to £65,000 and is dependent on experience, alongside the wider benefits package available with the role.
