Civils Estimator

A full-time opportunity exists for an accomplished civil engineering Estimator, to join a tier one international Contractor. Your proven ability to prepare accurate and detailed estimates including early contractor engagements, is sought.

Your duties will include –

• To produce a competitive price/tender by factoring in labour, plant, material, subcontracts, temporary works, staff, preliminaries and risk.
• Agree methodologies for key activities with Bid Manager, Planner, Project Manager and Design Manager
• Price alternative design solutions
• Advise the Bid Manager of sufficiency of the client’s bill of quantities
• Prepare final pricing documentation for inclusion with tender submission
• Liaise with Bid Manager to address any post tender clarifications/amendments
• Hand over successful bids
• Review and learn from unsuccessful bids

Requirements for this role include –

• Preferably a civil engineering qualification followed by hands on site delivery experience prior to estimating
• Sound knowledge of civil engineering and construction techniques
• Successful estimating experience for a tier one UK Contractor, on major infrastructure projects
• Knowledge of relevant procurement legislation
• Commercial awareness of different forms of contract particularly the NEC suite
• Detailed knowledge of estimating software packages
