What you will be doing
As the Civil Quantity Surveyor, you will be involved throughout the lifecycle of civil engineering projects, helping to control costs, manage contractual obligations and protect the commercial position of the business.
You will be:
·Preparing valuations and applications for payment with the required supporting documentation.
·Producing accurate cost reports, forecasts and internal commercial reports.
·Managing subcontractor and supplier accounts, from procurement and appointment through to final account agreement.
·Preparing and maintaining subcontract and material procurement schedules.
·Administering contracts and maintaining accurate change-management and commercial registers.
·Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, variations and value-engineering options.
·Monitoring project expenditure, cash flow and commercial performance.
·Reviewing subcontractor payments and ensuring they are appropriately authorised.
·Working closely with project managers, engineers, clients, subcontractors and suppliers.
·Supporting the successful commercial delivery of projects in accordance with contractual, legal and quality requirements.
What you will bring
To succeed as a Civil Quantity Surveyor, you should have:
·A relevant qualification in quantity surveying, commercial management, construction or a related discipline.
·Quantity surveying experience gained within civil engineering, construction or infrastructure.
·A strong understanding of standard forms of contract and methods of measurement.
·Experience preparing valuations, cost reports, forecasts and subcontractor accounts.
·The ability to identify and manage commercial risks and contractual changes.
·Strong negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
·Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
·A commercially focused and organised approach to project delivery.
·The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
Experience across general civil engineering projects would be particularly beneficial.
