OverviewWe are excited to announce 12 training Children and Young People’s Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) posts in West London NHS Trust across Hammersmith and Fulham, Hounslow and Ealing Community CAMHS and Mental Health Support Teams. The role provides early intervention by way of Guided Self Help (GSH) for children and young people experiencing emotional and behavioural difficulties, especially those who would not normally meet the threshold or engage with CAMHS.

Training and placementThe post-holder will work in clinic under the supervision of a CWP Supervisor and will have close links with the specialist Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) CAMHS teams as well as working within community settings and schools. The training programme is part of the Children and Young People’s Increasing Access to Psychological Therapies (CYP-IAPT). The aim is to provide evidence-based, brief, low-intensity treatments for mild to moderate emotional and behavioural difficulties in children and young people.

The training and service experience will equip the post holder with the knowledge, attitude and capabilities to operate effectively in an inclusive, value-driven service. The post holder will attend all university-based taught and Onsite Protected Learning Time required by the education provider, and work in the service for the remaining days using their newly developed skills.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality, brief, outcome-focused, evidence-based interventions and guided self-help for children and young people with mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Deliver interventions in both 1:1 and group settings.

Work closely with other community organisations and CAMHS teams to support pathways of care.

Eligibility and requirements

Training role within the CYP IAPT programme.

Postgraduate Certificate in Child and Young Persons Psychological Wellbeing Practice (to be pursued at King’s College London) or equivalent as part of the programme.

Supervised practice within CAMHS services; commitment to work with the CYP service.
