Childrens Nurse Kaleidoscope Palliative Care

Overview
Band 6 Children''s Nurse to join the Kaleidoscope Palliative Care Service in the Inner North West Division, part of the Central London Community Health Trust. You will support the running of the Kaleidoscope Team, caring for children with complex and palliative care needs, and work with the Palliative Care Team, Children’s Community Nursing Service and social care partners to deliver joined-up, holistic support. You will also help recruit, train and develop Kaleidoscope Care Workers, and deputise for the Nurse Specialist to ensure continuity of service.
Role detailsHours: 30 hours per week, flexible Monday–Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends to meet children’s End of Life needs and to support the 24/7 on-call service.
Location: nominal base Westbourne Park, with travel across Kensington and Chelsea, Hammersmith and Fulham, and Westminster.
Responsibilities
Support the running of the Kaleidoscope palliative care team for children with complex and palliative needs, in conjunction with the Kaleidoscope Palliative Care Team, the Children’s Community Nursing Team and Social Services.
Support the recruitment, training and development of Kaleidoscope Care Workers to provide care for children at home in the specified areas.
Work within the Kaleidoscope Palliative Care Team, deputising for the Nurse Specialist to provide continuity of service.
Contribute to service development, staff training and professional governance.
QualificationsEssential
RGN, RSCN, RN(Child)
Registered Nurse with current UK NMC registration
Evidence of post-registration education
Desirable
Teaching qualification
ExperienceEssential
Relevant nursing experience at Band 5
Experience of teaching
Experience of liaising/negotiating with professionals
Experience of managing junior staff
Desirable
Post Registration Community Experience at Band 5 or 6
Experience of working in culturally diverse communities
Skills
Knowledge of the NMC Professional Codes and Standards
Knowledge of Clinical Governance and its implementation
Knowledge of political changes in the profession and NHS
Knowledge of working in culturally diverse communities
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
IT skills

Pay and contractBand 6, salary £46,419 to £55,046 per annum, inclusive of HCAS (pro rata). Permanent contract. Part-time working pattern.
