Children's Occupational Therapist - EHCP & SEND (Part-Time)

Gloucestershire County Council are looking to recruit an experienced Occupational Therapist to join a well-structured and supportive team. This position sits within the SEND service, focusing on children and young people with a range of needs, including complex disabilities. The client offers a part-time contract (3 days per week), until March 2026, with the option to work flexibly. The role offers a manageable caseload, a competitive hourly rate, and the opportunity to contribute to meaningful outcomes for children and families.
The vacancy is initially until March 2026 with potential for extension.
Main Duties for the Occupational Therapist include:
Managing a caseload of children and young people with a range of SEND needs
Providing occupationally focused assessments, intervention, and written reports to support EHCPs
Acting as an expert advisor and second opinion where OT provision in EHCPs is challenged
Leading OT input into SEND appeals and tribunal processes
Working closely with the EHCP Team and contributing as an expert witness in legal proceedings
Collaborating with families, schools, and partner agencies to ensure high-quality provision
Maintaining accurate records and ensuring all work is in line with statutory guidance and the SEND Code of Practice
To Be Successful:
Significant experience working as a Children''s Occupational Therapist
Strong knowledge of EHCP processes and writing detailed, outcome-focused reports
Familiarity with the SEND Code of Practice and local authority responsibilities
Experience handling complex cases and involvement in tribunals is desirable
Confident working independently and as part of a multi-agency team
HCPC Registration
Enhanced DBS (can be obtained if needed)
Occupational Therapy qualification
Eligibility to work in the UK
