Childcare Support Worker (SEN Residential & Day School)

Prospero Teaching is seeking compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Childcare Support Workers to join a specialist day and residential SEN school in Eastleigh from September.

This specialist provision supports pupils aged 11-16 with a range of additional needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, challenging behaviour, SEMH needs, and associated learning difficulties. The school provides a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where young people are supported to develop confidence, independence, and essential life skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality care and support within both educational and residential settings.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils and promote their wellbeing.
  • Support young people with autism, ADHD, behavioural needs, and emotional regulation difficulties.
  • Implement behaviour support strategies and encourage positive outcomes.
  • Assist with daily routines, personal development, independence, and social skills.
  • Support evening and overnight residential routines, including two sleep-in shifts per week.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, residential staff, therapists, families, and external professionals.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of all pupils.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to care plans where required.

Location: Eastleigh, Hampshire
Position: Childcare Support Worker (SEN Residential & Day School)
Start Date: September 2026
Contract Type: Full-time
Working Pattern: Monday to Thursday
Hours: 37 hours per week, including two sleep-in shifts
Pay Rate: From -14.25 per hour

Requirements

You must:

  • Have the Right to Work in the UK.
  • Hold an Enhanced Child Barred List DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one).
  • Provide professional references covering the last 24 months.
  • Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare, Health & Social Care, Residential Care, Education, or a related field, or have relevant experience supporting young people with SEN.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have experience working with young people with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or behavioural needs.
  • Be confident supporting emotional regulation and communication difficulties.
  • Remain calm and professional in challenging situations.
  • Be passionate about helping young people achieve greater independence and confidence.
  • Be flexible and committed to working across both education and residential settings.
