Childcare Paralegal, Birmingham, 12 months+ experience, £Competitive (DOE) - We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Childcare Paralegal to join a busy Family Law department. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in public law children matters who is passionate about supporting vulnerable clients and developing their career within a highly regarded legal practice. THE ROLE:
• Working alongside experienced Family Law solicitors, you will provide legal and administrative support across a varied caseload involving public law childcare matters.
• The role requires excellent organisation, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate sensitively with clients who may be facing difficult and emotional circumstances.
• You will support solicitors on public law childcare and Legal Aid cases from initial instruction through to conclusion.
• Meet clients, taking instructions and preparing attendance notes.
• Draft legal documents including witness statements, position statements, applications, briefs to Counsel and correspondence.
• Prepare court bundles and organising evidence for hearings.
• Manage electronic case files and ensuring documents are accurately stored within the firm's case management system.
• Assist with new client enquiries and providing professional support to existing clients throughout their matter.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
• Previous experience working within a Family Law department, particularly public law children or care proceedings.
• A sound understanding of Family Law principles and Legal Aid processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to build rapport with vulnerable clients.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise competing deadlines.
• A proactive and flexible approach with excellent attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently whilst contributing positively as part of a collaborative team.
• A professional, empathetic and client-focused manner.
