Our client, an established aerospace maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) organisation, is seeking a Chief Technician to lead its Wolverhampton engineering team and manage the base facility, aircraft assets and maintenance activities. This is a permanent position with responsibility for ensuring safe, efficient and compliant aircraft maintenance operations across the base and, when required, other operating locations.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and supervise the Wolverhampton Engineering Team, allocating tasks effectively and maintaining high quality standards to maximise aircraft availability
  • Liaise with the Head of Maintenance and Operations teams regarding aircraft status, maintenance requirements and operational priorities
  • Coordinate Line and Base Maintenance activities at Wolverhampton and in the field, working with Chief Technicians at other operating bases
  • Ensure completed technical log pages, work packs and hard-copy maintenance records are submitted promptly to Technical Records
  • Manage aircraft spares and consumables in accordance with Part 145 procedures and industry best practice, including requisitioning, stock control and the return of core assemblies
  • Maintain effective control of tooling, test equipment, ground support equipment and aircraft handling equipment, ensuring inspection, servicing and calibration requirements are met
  • Oversee the local management of JET A-1 fuel assets, including procurement, storage, sampling, maintenance and dispensing
  • Maintain clean, safe and orderly office, hangar, workshop and stores areas
  • Arrange competency assessments, on-the-job training and continuation training for the engineering team
  • Promote a positive safety culture and support the effective implementation of the Safety Management System, including hazard and occurrence reporting


Job Requirements:

  • Significant experience in aircraft maintenance within an aerospace MRO or aviation engineering environment
  • Experience supervising or leading aircraft maintenance teams
  • Understanding of aircraft maintenance procedures, technical records and Part 145 compliance requirements
  • Knowledge of aircraft spares, consumables, tooling and ground support equipment control
  • Experience working with or alongside Licensed Aircraft Engineers
  • Strong understanding of aviation safety, risk management and Safety Management Systems
  • Excellent communication, organisation and decision-making skills
  • Ability to coordinate maintenance priorities while maintaining high standards of safety, quality and aircraft availability


Working Pattern:


The standard working pattern is Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30, based at Wolverhampton. Working hours may vary to meet operational requirements and may occasionally include weekend work or additional hours. There may also be a requirement to attend other operating maintenance bases, including overnight stays.
