Salary:
£58,000 per annum - pro rata (22.5 hours based on 36.5 hours per week FTE)Location:

Gloucestershire Deaf Association (GDA) is a charity with over 100 years of history supporting Deaf and hard of hearing people to live confidently with deafness and hearing loss. We deliver a wide range of services including British Sign Language (BSL) education, wellbeing and social programmes, children and young people’s groups, equipment support, interpreting services, and community outreach. Over the past year we have made significant progress, strengthening our leadership team, introducing a new funding strategy for long-term sustainability, enhancing services, improving culture, and restoring pride in the organisation.We are now seeking a strong and people-centred leader to build on this success. This next phase is about investing in our people, developing and supporting our Senior Leadership Team (SLT) to lead their services effectively, embedding our long-term strategy, and ensuring we continue to deliver impact for the community. Working closely with the Board of Trustees, the CEO will focus on creating the right environment for staff and volunteers to thrive, ensuring the organisation is sustainable and ambitious for the future.The Role
The CEO will be a visible and inspiring leader, working closely with the Chair of Trustees and Leadership Team to set the organisation’s strategic direction and ensure its long-term sustainability.You will
Provide clear and strategic leadership across the organisation, shaping and delivering the strategic plan.Build deep, trusting relationships with the Deaf community, our staff and volunteers, and a wide range of external partners, stakeholders and funders.Develop and support the SLT to lead their teams effectively and deliver the organisation’s strategic goals.Foster an inclusive, positive and high-performing organisational culture, setting the tone through values and behaviours.Ensure strong governance, compliance and safeguarding practices.Represent GDA locally and nationally, raising awareness of Deaf culture and championing inclusion.About You
We are seeking an innovative, enthusiastic leader who can connect with people from all backgrounds and abilities.You will bring
Senior leadership experience, ideally in the charity, community or social impact sectors.Strong financial and strategic management skills.A proven track record in developing and supporting senior leaders to deliver organisational objectives.Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to inspire and influence.A collaborative and resilient approach to leadership, encouraging and bringing out the best in others.A genuine commitment to inclusion and equality.(Desirable) Knowledge of Deaf culture, BSL, Understanding of the BSL Act 2022 or experience of working with marginalised communities.The Practicalities
This role is based at GDA’s Community Hub in Gloucester. While flexibility can be discussed, the CEO needs to be present and visible within our community. The role involves regular travel across Gloucestershire and occasional wider representation.What We Offer
