Chief Executive

Salary: £45,000-£50,000 per annum Contract: Fixed-term, 2 years with possibility of renewal, 35 hours per week. Job share possible Location: Central Manchester (minimum two days per week office-based) Leading creative writing organisation Cultureword is seeking an experienced senior leader from the arts or not-for-profit sector to become our next Chief Executive. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Chief Executive will provide strategic leadership, ensure the delivery of high-quality creative writing programmes, and champion equity, community engagement, and artistic excellence. Key Responsibilities Lead organisational strategy in partnership with the Board Ensure strong governance, financial sustainability, and legal compliance Oversee delivery of Arts Council England NPO and other funded programmes Lead fundraising, partnerships, and funder reporting Provide leadership and line management across staff and freelancers Act as an ambassador for creative writing and socially engaged practice About You You will be an experienced senior leader from the arts or not-for-profit sector with strong people skills, a track record of fundraising and programme delivery, and a commitment to community engagement, equity, and inclusive leadership.
