We are seeking a dedicated Challenging Behaviour Assistant to join a specialist school, supporting children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. About the Role

As a Behaviour Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting pupils with SEMH needs. You will assist teachers in delivering lessons and personalised learning strategies while providing one-to-one and small group support for pupils requiring additional behavioural guidance.

You will have the opportunity to observe, implement, and develop strategies that support children''s social, emotional, and academic growth, gaining invaluable experience in SEMH interventions and behaviour management.

Key Responsibilities

Support pupils with SEMH needs in the classroom and during structured activities.

Assist teachers in delivering lessons and individual learning plans.

Implement behaviour management strategies and provide consistent guidance to pupils.

Maintain a safe, structured, and supportive learning environment.

Contribute to ongoing education and training initiatives for staff and pupils.

Observe and report on pupil progress to inform educational and behavioural interventions.

Requirements

Experience or interest in working with children with SEMH needs.

Patience, empathy, and the ability to respond calmly to challenging behaviour.

Commitment to inclusive practice and collaborative working.

Good communication and organisational skills.
