Centre Manager (Summer Fixed Term)

Overview
The Centre Manager (CM) is responsible for the smooth, efficient and successful running of all aspects of the designated Young Learner Centre. You will oversee day-to-day operations, ensuring delivery of high-quality language programs, excursions, and activities for young learners. You will create a safe and engaging learning environment that fosters personal growth and memorable experiences, ensuring the programme adheres to all aspects of the BSC Safeguarding policy.Duties
Work with the management team to ensure smooth running of the course.Manage day-to-day running of the centre: arrivals/departures, rooming, catering, housekeeping, etc.Weekly rota management, including shift changes, sickness and absence management.Liaise daily with on-site centre team.Carry out damage inspections and compile reports.Be responsible for implementing Health and Safety and Safeguarding procedures.Plan and deliver clear and informative student inductions with management team.Hold regular centre team meetings and have minutes recorded; hold daily management meetings and have minutes recorded.Ensure academic and social teams work harmoniously and programmes are integrated.Oversee team performance and motivate as required.Supervise centre finances and ensure profitability; manage expenses and meals appropriately.Complete weekly meal lists for catering accounting for transfer times, excursions and staff leaving for airport duty.Ensure management and teams lead and report analysis of Student Focus Groups. Implement COVID-19 safeguarding procedures and continuous improvements.Manage centre preparation and audit inspections to maintain British Council accreditation standards.Welcome visitors to the programme (e.g. agents, BSC staff, language agencies, inspectors).Complete student inductions for arriving students. Assign Activity Leaders/Student Mentors as needed.Carry out appraisals with all team members. Communicate with Head Office (HO) before and during the summer.Lead team induction prior to student arrival; respond to HO requests promptly; complete administrative tasks as required.Report weekly centre data to HO; write end-of-course centre and team member reports.Maintain inventory of materials/equipment and send records to HO as requested.Collect arrival/departure feedback from students and International Group Leaders; implement student journey questionnaires and act on feedback.Manage centre KPIs and complete honest and accurate Management Team Appraisals.Be aware of all BSC YL procedures.Centre and Young Learners Central Team

Ensure safety and wellbeing of students at all times.Work with Management team/IGLs to address student discipline and welfare issues; hold daily welfare meetings with individual students.Ensure all staff are aware of residential duties, implement mealtimes, wake-up and night duties on a rota basis; be a role model for students.Complete Administration for Medicine Training (to administer medicine and First Aid).Child Protection and Safeguarding
Promote and safeguard the welfare of children and Young Learners; adhere to BSC policies.Act as the Designated Safeguarding Officer (DSO) as appropriate; record, report and escalate safeguarding concerns with confidentiality and professionalism.Maintain student ratios per site rules; provide safety and welfare assistance to all students.Complete online Safeguarding for Young Learners (Level 3) before arrival and on-site refreshers during induction.Other
Work positively as part of a team; attend and lead centre meetings; act professionally; comply with centre and BSC rules and dress code.Attend a pre-course training weekend and undertake duties as assigned by the Young Learners Central Team.Conditions
Competitive weekly salary depending on qualifications, experience and centre size. Pay scale available on request.All accommodation and board provided; this is a residential post. Working hours may include evenings, nights, and variable student arrival/departure times.BSC YL dress code and lanyards required; at least one full day off per week (to be decided at centre).References checked; DBS/Disclosure checks and overseas checks as applicable; right to work in the UK/IRE required.Required Experience and Skills
Essential : Experience with multinational students; senior role at a summer camp; high computer literacy; strong organisational skills; team player; ability to stay calm under pressure; enthusiasm for summer school life; right to work in the UK/EU; Enhanced DBS clearance.Desirable : Experience with children/teens in educational contexts; running placement tests; teacher observations and feedback; meetings and reports; current First Aid; safeguarding training; experience with British Council/EQ/ELT inspections.Training
