This role is essential in ensuring the cemetery is maintained to a high standard, with key responsibilities including grave digging and general groundskeeping, all carried out in line with health and safety regulations. Key Responsibilities Carry out manual grave digging and preparation in a safe, respectful, and efficient manner. Maintain cemetery grounds through tasks such as lawn mowing, hedge trimming, litter removal, and general landscaping. Operate grounds maintenance machinery and tools safely and responsibly. Support the installation and maintenance of gravesites and memorials. Adhere strictly to health and safety guidelines and company procedures. Promptly report any maintenance concerns or safety hazards to supervisors. Interact professionally and respectfully with colleagues, funeral directors, and members of the public. Requirements Previous experience in grounds maintenance or similar manual labour roles is desirable. Physically fit and capable of carrying out tasks such as digging and operating tools/machinery. Solid understanding of health and safety practices, particularly related to grave digging and outdoor maintenance. Reliable, with a strong work ethic and keen attention to detail.
