Join Our Team as a Catering Assistant - Long-Term Sickness Cover

Location: Great Western Hospital

Hourly Rate: -12.71

Contract Type: Temporary

Duration: Long-term sickness cover (ongoing, no fixed end date)

Hours: 37.5 hours per week (7.5 hours per day, 5 days per week)

• You will be required to work 5 days per week
• A rota will be provided up to 6 weeks in advance
• Shifts will vary between:
• 07:00 - 15:00
• 11:00 - 19:00
• 12:00 - 20:00
• Full flexibility is essential, and you must be able to work all listed shift patterns

What You''ll Be Doing

Food Preparation & Service

• Assist with preparing meals, snacks, and beverages
• Follow portion control and presentation standards
• Pack, label, and store food safely, including allergen-sensitive and texture-modified diets
• Serve food in line with hygiene and safety procedures
  

Food Safety & Compliance

• Adhere to HACCP principles and Level 2 Food Hygiene standards
• Complete daily food safety checks and temperature logs
  

Cleanliness & Hygiene

• Clean equipment and surfaces in line with infection control standards
• Support deep cleaning schedules and maintain organised work areas
  

Productivity

• Work efficiently in a fast-paced environment to ensure timely meal delivery
  

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

• Basic reading and writing skills
• Experience in a catering or food service environment
• Knowledge of food hygiene, safety, and allergen awareness
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and sometimes cold environment
  

Desirable

• Experience in healthcare or care home catering
• Knowledge of healthcare dietary requirements (e.g. IDDSI)
• Good record-keeping skills
