We have a great opportunity for an experienced Casualty Underwriting Manager to join our team and take the lead on our underwriting strategy and performance across the casualty portfolio (Employers'' Liability, Public/products liability, and associated classes).
A bit about the job: Following continued growth across the business, Aviva are looking for a Casualty Underwriting Manager to join their Chief Underwriting Office within Commercial Lines. This role spans our entire commercial business including Digital, Schemes, Mid-Market and Global Corporate and Specialty.
Within the role you will be responsible for setting the strategy and appetite for our UK General Insurance Commercial lines casualty classes, and oversight of underwriting to deliver agreed premium and profit objectives. The role requires an in-depth knowledge of the casualty insurance market to facilitate data-led decision making, identifying emerging risks and opportunities and providing solutions for sophisticated underwriting problems within authority and Aviva''s risk appetite. You will lead a team of tenacious underwriters and wording technical specialists to set the philosophy, standards, risk appetite processes, pricing and strategy across the business.
Responsibilities
Set strategy and appetite for UK General Insurance Commercial lines casualty classes and oversee underwriting to deliver premium and profit objectives.
Lead a team of underwriters and wording technical specialists; establish philosophy, standards, risk appetite processes, pricing and strategy.
Utilise data-led decision making to identify emerging risks and opportunities and provide solutions for underwriting problems within Aviva''s risk appetite.
Engage in external discussions and market forums representing the company with high technical credibility.
Skills and experience
The highest level of technical knowledge in casualty underwriting, sufficient to represent the company in external discussions including market forums
Ability to lead and motivate a team
Knowledge of socio-economic and legal environment as it effects insurance
Ability to think and act long term both strategically and operationally with a view to improving customer outcomes and experience
Excellent relationship management skills including stakeholder management at senior levels to drive and influence decisions
