Casual Kitchen Assistant

As a Kitchen Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen. Your responsibilities will include food preparation, maintaining hygiene standards, and ensuring excellent teamwork to deliver high-quality meals to our customers.Key Responsibilities:Prepare basic hot and cold food products, including washing, peeling, chopping, cutting, and cooking.
Ensure all food is prepared and presented to the highest standard, following spec sheets and portion guidelines.
Support effective and efficient service by communicating clearly with kitchen and Front of House (FOH) teams.
Prioritise tasks during busy periods and be proactive with preparation during quieter times.
Follow correct procedures for allergen control, cross-contamination, and use of coded equipment.
Carry out food safety checks, including sample and temperature monitoring, in line with HSE guidelines.
Receive, check, and correctly store deliveries; ensure stock rotation and minimise wastage.
Maintain a clean, hygienic, and safe kitchen environment by cleaning and sanitising preparation areas, utensils, and equipment.
Perform opening and closing procedures, including setting up the kitchen for service and tidying down after.
Dispose of rubbish appropriately and follow internal health and safety policies at all times.
Communicate effectively with the Kitchen Supervisor, FOH management, and team members, especially regarding special requests or dietary requirements.
Skills and Requirements:Basic knowledge of food preparation and cooking techniques.
Understanding of food hygiene, safety standards, and allergen awareness.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure and as part of a team.
Good communication skills and attention to detail.
