Case Worker (Independant Living)
Adecco are recruiting for a HAIL (Home Adaptations for Independent Living) Case Worker on behalf of Newham Council.
- Working arrangements: Hybrid (3 days a week in the officer)
- Office is based in Newham
- Temporary contract for 3 months with potential to extend
- -26.50 per hour Umbrella
- Full time, 36 hours per week
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Case Worker to join the HAIL (Home Adaptations for Independent Living) team within Adult Social Care. This role is central to assessing eligibility and processing Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) applications, supporting residents to live independently through home adaptations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake financial assessments to determine eligibility for Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG)
- Work closely with Occupational Therapists who have identified required adaptations
- Explain the grants process clearly to residents and their families/carers
- Provide guidance on funding options, including self-directed schemes in line with Newham processes
- Support residents in completing grant application forms in accordance with legislation
- Act as a coordinator, handling enquiries and liaising with Surveyors and Technical Officers
- Work with the Framework Coordinator to upload adaptation requests to the DPS system
- Conduct home visits (2-3 days per week as required)
- Support delivery of a monthly adaptations clinic
- Liaise with Registered Social Landlords (RSLs)
Essential Requirements:
- Strong working knowledge of the Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG) application process and relevant legislation
- Previous experience in a similar case worker role
- Excellent customer service skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Willingness and ability to travel within the community
