Carpentry Lecturer

You’ll join a supportive Construction team, delivering high-quality training and helping learners achieve their qualifications while preparing them for progression into employment or further study.

A salary of up to £43,700 per annum is available depending on qualifications and experience, alongside an attractive benefits package and generous holiday entitlement.

The role is full-time, 37 hours per week, and based at a campus location within Surrey with good transport links from surrounding areas. Easily accessible from Woking, Ashford, Weybridge, Guildford, Walton-on-Thames, Esher, Epsom, Staines-upon-Thames and the wider Surrey area.

The role :

• Delivering high-quality teaching across relevant Carpentry and Construction programmes.
• Assessing, monitoring and recording learner progress, providing support to help students achieve their potential.
• Developing engaging learning materials and contribute to the review and development of the curriculum.
• Embedding employability, literacy, numeracy and IT skills within the curriculum.
• Supporting learners with their progression, including providing advice to prospective students and contributing to recruitment activities.
• Working collaboratively with colleagues to maintain high standards of teaching, assessment and quality assurance.

About you ....

• You’ll have a relevant Degree, HND or equivalent vocational/professional qualification.
• You’ll bring strong practical knowledge and experience within Carpentry or Construction, with the ability to share your industry knowledge and skills with learners.
• Ideally, you’ll hold a PGCE, Certificate in Education or equivalent teaching qualification, although a willingness to work towards this will also be considered.
• An A1/V1 Assessors Award would be advantageous, or you’ll be willing to work towards one as part of your professional development.
• You’ll have strong communication, organisation and IT skills, with the ability to plan and deliver engaging learning experiences.

Most importantly, you’ll have a positive and learner-focused approach, with the ability to motivate, encourage and support students to achieve their goals.

Previous teaching or training experience would be beneficial, but candidates with strong professional or practical experience who are looking to move into education are also encouraged to apply.
