POST TITLE: Carpentry & Joinery Lecturer
LOCATION: Newbury, Berkshire
HOURS: 37 hours per week
CONTRACT: Full Time, Permanent
SALARY: -33,656 - -39,034 per annum (plus potential -3,000 market premium)

JOB PURPOSE:
To deliver high-quality teaching in Carpentry and Joinery, enabling learners to develop the practical skills, technical knowledge and safety standards required for employment within the construction industry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Deliver engaging teaching across Carpentry and Joinery programmes including full-time and apprenticeship learners
• Plan and deliver practical and theory sessions covering:
  • First and second fix carpentry
  • Structural carcassing (roofing and flooring)
  • Architectural joinery and workshop production
  • Power tool safety and maintenance
  • Blueprint reading and CAD interpretation
• Manage a safe and productive workshop environment
• Assess learner progress and provide timely, constructive feedback
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and achievement
• Support learners in developing industry-standard skills and behaviours
• Contribute to curriculum development to ensure content remains up to date
• Participate in team meetings, CPD and college activities

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential:

• Level 3 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery
• Extensive site-based or workshop experience
• Experience of apprenticeship delivery and workplace assessment
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Willingness to work towards a teaching qualification

Desirable:

• Teaching qualification (PGCE/Cert Ed or equivalent)
• Assessor and Internal Verifier qualifications
