About the role
Eden Brown are looking for an enthusiastic, practical and highly organised Carpentry & Joinery Technician to join our Professional Trades team at our Further Education College in Merseyside.
As a Carpentry & Joinery Technician, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth and effective operation of our workshops, supporting both teaching staff and students in a safe, professional and positive learning environment.
You will bring your practical knowledge and experience of carpentry and joinery to support the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning, while ensuring that workshops, tools, equipment and resources are maintained and managed effectively.
Key responsibilities
* Ensure the smooth running and day-to-day operation of the Carpentry & Joinery workshops and wider Professional Trades areas.
* Manage, organise and dispense tools, equipment, materials and other resources effectively.
* Provide practical support and supervision to Lecturers and students within the workshop environment.
* Ensure tools, equipment and workshop facilities are maintained in a safe, clean and serviceable condition.
* Support the preparation of workshops and practical resources for lessons and assessments.
* Assist teaching staff with practical demonstrations and activities where appropriate.
* Monitor the safe use of equipment and materials and promote good workshop practices.
* Contribute to maintaining a safe working environment in accordance with college health and safety procedures.
* Support the efficient stock control and ordering of workshop materials and consumables.
* Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Professional Trades areas to ensure an effective and well-organised learning environment.
About you
* You will have relevant industry experience and a sound practical knowledge of carpentry and joinery, with the ability to work confidently in a busy workshop environment.
* You will be organised, reliable and approachable, with a strong commitment to supporting students and teaching staff. The ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team is essential, as is a strong understanding of workshop health and safety.
A DBS Is also required for this role.
Experience of working within an education or training environment would be desirable, although we would welcome applications from experienced industry professionals looking to bring their skills into further education.
